7 Shutout Innings not Enough for the Win




The Academy Barons took on the Santa Barbara Foresters on Thursday, July 23, 3009 at Uyesaka Stadium in Santa Barbara. The starting like up for the Barons consisted of

Geoff Broussard P


Starting Pitcher- Geoff Broussard (0-3) pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits. He finished his outing with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. Despite Broussard’s 7 shutout innings he got the no decision which keeps his record at 0-3.

Relieving Pitcher- Joe Spizzirri (1-2) pitched to four batters, gave up 4 runs on 2 hits. He got the loss which brings his record to 1-2.

Closing Pitcher- Brian Foster (1-1) closed out the game pitching 1 inning, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit, struck out 2 and walked 2.


George McDonald was 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI

Jarred Frierson was 2 for 3 with 2 walks and 1 strikeout

Dimitri De La Fuente was 2 for 4 with 1 homerun to left center, 2 RBIs and 1 run scored

Andrew Allen was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored

The Barons are currently (10-22) overall and (9-14) in the California Collegiate League.



The last home games of the season are set for Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 and Wednesday, July 29, 2009, both games are set to start at 7:00pm vs. the Thrashers.



Join us on Wednesday.....its FAN AND PLAYER APPRECIATION DAY!!!!! The National Anthem will be sung by Barons’ right hand pitcher BROULIO ARCHER. The Barons will also stick around after the games to talk to the kids in attendance as well as sign autographs. Fan booklets with player profiles and pictures will be provided to the fans in attendance.
